The Craig Family Centre is proud to have been providing weekly ongoing homework support to primary and secondary school students for over 10 years.
By providing a safe and supportive out-of-school learning environment where primary or secondary students can participate in activities that develop their academic skills, such as homework, numeracy and literacy, we know we have helped many young people to improve their understanding and engagement at school.
Homework for Students
The Craig supports an average of 30 primary and secondary students each week. The small group and one-on-one sessions are held in the evening with the help of trained tutors. For some students this is the first positive learning experience they have had regarding their learning.
Sessions for students are Wednesdays from 4pm-5pm (during school terms).
Our Homework Support Program wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated volunteer tutors. We recognise and appreciate their hard work and the time they dedicate to helping students improve their knowledge and understanding of their school work.
Would you like to become a volunteer tutor?
Its easy to become a tutor. We ask you to be available a couple of times a month, to put aside an hour a week to support young people with their learning.
Do you have good communication and interpersonal skills? Great negotiation skills and the ability to help young people to solve problems in a range of subjects? Volunteer at the Craig Family Centre as a Volunteer tutor. We welcome volunteers of all ages!
You will need to be available Wednesdays from 3.45pm-5.15pm (during school terms).
